Just yesterday, we reported on the announced expansion for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. But before the residents of Eorzea can enjoy game version 3.0 in Spring 2015, Update 2.4 is up first. An impressive feature trailer shows that this patch, aptly named “Dreams of Ice,” has a lot to offer.
Typical for FFXIV: Every 3-4 months, players receive a major update that brings a lot of new content. The developers at Square Enix can still maintain this pace, which is surprising given the scope. A quick look at 2.4 shows that this time they didn’t skimp on development:
- With the Rogue, a completely new class comes into play, and with the Ninja, a job, meaning a specialization.
- Shiva, Mistress of Ice, is a powerful new Primals that is meant to challenge players.
- Sastasha, Sunken Temple of Qarn, and the Snow Cloak Festival form the new dungeon trio.
- The main scenario, the main story of the game, continues. This section is titled “Icy Dreams” and promises “dark” tales in Ul’dah and Ishgard.
- Apart from the main scenario, side quests “The Dragon’s Neck Coliseum” and “Hildibrand in Action” should provide variety. Especially the legends surrounding Hildibrand have achieved cult status among players.
- In the challenging 8-man raid “Twisted Shadows of Bahamut,” it’s now time to end the threat once and for all.
