How will the final matches proceed? – Format
Group stage: The 32 participants are divided into 4 groups of 8 players each. There are two PS4 and two Xbox groups. Within a group, everyone plays twice against their competitors. The top four players from each group advance. There are 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and no points for a loss. The away goals rule does not apply here. In the event of a tie, goal difference, number of goals, direct comparison, and a coin toss (in this order) will decide.
The quarterfinal and semifinal matches (with home and away games) determine who will be the best PS4 FIFA player and who will be the best Xbox One FIFA player in 2018.
In the final, these two gamers will then play one game each on PS4 and Xbox One against each other. This will determine who is the best FIFA 18 player across consoles – and thus the world champion.

Who are the favorites?
Among the nations, Germany is the heavyweight. No one has as many participants (8) as we do. The best Germans are ranked by EA Sports as Philipp “Eisvogel” Schermer (PS4) and Michael “MegaBit” Bittner (Xbox) – Kai “deto” Wollin (PS4) is also regarded as a favorite for the title. The latter finished second at the eWorld Cup in 2017.
The international competition among the favorites: According to EA Sports, the Germans especially have to watch out for these guys:
- Gorilla: The Englishman is the eWorld Champion of 2017. He wants to be the first player to defend the title. Since the eWorld Cup final is taking place in London, the event will be a home game for him.
- Nicolas99fc: The top favorite. The Argentine is currently considered the best FIFA 18 player in the world on PS4. He won the Global Series playoffs in Amsterdam without losing a match – he only lost one single game. Other eSports players emphasize that they want to avoid him in the final matches.
- Mossad “MSDossary” Aldossary from Saudi Arabia is already something like a FIFA legend, having won several titles already. He is known for scoring a lot of goals.
