The fourth new icon for FIFA 22 has been revealed. Wayne Rooney joins the ranks of FIFA legends and receives three cards with strong ratings.
This is what’s happening in FIFA 22: As the FIFA 22 release approaches, EA Sports is releasing more and more player ratings. These are the values of the footballers that will distinguish them in FIFA 22.
So far, three new icons with ratings have been released, but the fourth was kept under wraps until recently. Now the mystery is solved: Wayne Rooney is the last new icon in FIFA 22.
Who is Wayne Rooney? Wayne Rooney started his career at Everton FC and quickly made a name for himself with goals. Later, he moved to Manchester United, where he would become a club icon.
Whether in the league, the cup, or the Champions League: Rooney scored his goals and collected titles endlessly. He was also a reliable attacker for the English national team, becoming the record goalscorer of the team with 53 goals in 120 international matches.
This is Rooney’s rating in FIFA 22
These are the cards: Like every icon in FIFA 22, Wayne Rooney initially gets three cards: the Base, Mid, and Prime cards, each reflecting different phases of his career. Additionally, a Moments card is expected to be introduced during the season, which will feature even better values.
A detailed overview of the Icon Plan was shared by EA Sports recently alongside some updates in FUT. You can find the overview for the launch of Ultimate Team here.
Looking at the values, it is clear that Rooney’s goal-scoring ability should remain intact in FIFA 22.
- The Base card is rated at 86 and excels mainly in shooting and passing attributes. This fits his position as CAM. The other attributes look good too – except for the defensive ones. But you wouldn’t put Rooney in a defensive position anyway.
- The Mid card has even less interest in defending, but has a decent upgrade in speed and even a few more shooting and dribbling points. The passing score, however, drops slightly. Clearly, the striker version prefers to hold onto the ball rather than pass it.
- The Prime card has an overall rating of 91 and resembles the Mid card in many aspects. Overall, the values are a bit more balanced.
All in all, Rooney is likely to become a very dangerous striker. In addition, he brings all the other advantages of an icon: Icons are not bound to leagues or clubs, but can establish chemistry connections with all players in Ultimate Team. This makes icons extremely useful when it comes to building creative teams.
However, Rooney is likely to be quite an expensive card at the start of the season. Accordingly, it will be difficult to acquire him for your team. You can find a few good cards for the season start in FIFA 22 here.
