In FIFA 22 there is again a Squad Battles glitch. Players found a trick to make the matches against the AI in Ultimate Team easier.
Where does the glitch work? The glitch can only be used in Squad Battles. Here, you don’t play against real opponents, but against teams controlled by the AI. You can choose opponents from different teams with varying ratings, chemistry values, and multiple difficulty levels.
For each victory, you earn points that advance you in the ranking. Depending on your rank, you can secure Squad Battles rewards once a week.
Players have once again found a way to make Squad Battles matches easier with a trick, thus obtaining rewards more easily. Similar errors occurred in the last FIFA installments after release.
Squad Battles Glitch Keeps Opponents Away
This is the trick: In the FIFA subreddit, user “chummi17” shared a video showing how a player – in this case, Cuadrado – stays in their own corner and repeatedly performs the ball roll (via reddit).
The AI-controlled opponents may lurk around the player, but they do not attack properly. There is no tackle, so there is also no ball recovery for the opponent. Currently, this works at the difficulty “World Class.”
So if you score and then withdraw to the corner, it may happen that you can easily maintain a 1:0 lead and end up winning.
Does it work without problems? On one hand, you first have to manage to score before you start rolling the ball in the corner – otherwise, there will be no victory in the end.
Moreover, you have to be careful about how your player moves during the ball roll. Otherwise, you might run out or directly into the opponent. This can result in a loss of ball and may lead to an opponent’s goal. Also, there is the halftime break, after which you need to regain the ball if the opponent kicks off.
Lastly, it is not entirely sure if this works in every single game. Players report that some opponents still make an effort to regain the ball.
Is this completely new? In the past, there have been instances in Squad Battles where players found ways to outsmart the AI. In FIFA 20, for example, this worked with a feigned shot, which apparently impressed the AI so much that it no longer dared to attack. In FIFA 21, on the other hand, it was a specific goalkeeper pass that paralyzed the opponent.
After such tricks emerged, EA Sports typically addressed the issue through an update. Then it was over with the time-wasting and the opponent attacked again. However, the new glitch is still in the game as of now.
How long this glitch lasts this time remains to be seen. In the current update for FIFA 22, there is still no mention of a fix. It primarily concerns goalkeeper and quality improvements.
