In FIFA 22, a no-loss glitch in the Weekend League caused a stir. It is now clear how many players exploited it – and EA is responding with temporary bans for the cheaters.
What happened? During the past Weekend League, some players found a way to leave games without incurring a loss. This no-loss glitch was only available on Friday of the weekend and was quickly fixed, as “FIFA Direct Communication” announced on Twitter. However, it seems that the time was apparently enough for some players to exploit the glitch excessively.
This is what happens now: EA announced over the weekend that it wanted to identify players who exploited the issue – and it seems they have now reached a conclusion. In a new tweet, EA announced:
We have identified over 30,000 active accounts that have consistently exploited this problem and have banned them from FIFA 22 online for 7 days, so they cannot participate in this week’s FUT Champions Finals.

Additionally, EA refers to a code of conduct (via EA.com), which states how players should behave in games. One of the first points mentions that players should not exploit glitches that could harm other players.
Accordingly, many players had already expected that there would be bans after the weekend when the glitch was revealed.
Players Share Ban Message – Causes Some Confusion
This is what players are showing: In the FIFA subreddit and on Twitter, players are now discussing the wave of bans. Among other things, a user on reddit showcased how the notification about the ban looks in-game.
However, some players seem to have experienced confusion: There are reports of a 1,000-day ban. However, it is likely that this is merely a display error – after all, EA has already confirmed the 7 days in the tweet. We will keep you updated as soon as there is new information.
The notification mentions not only the current ban but also states that further rule violations could lead to permanent bans.
This is what the community says: Overall, the bans seem to be well-received at first. Many players are responding with humor: Since they cannot play the Division Rivals rewards or access the Champs qualification alongside the FUT Champs Finals, it will be a reward-poor week for the affected players.
Some players are now suggesting that they could use this time to provide some cool content in Ultimate Team:
- “Imagine the troll level of EA if they actually released some hefty content during this time frame that banned players would miss,” suggests user MattiaKa (via reddit).
- “I Didn’t Cheat” SBC – 11 Bronze players, 30 Chem for a red player pick rated 82+” comments user Retro1989 (via reddit).
User Jacobsnemesis is surprised that there are actually bans: “This is actually a bigger punishment than I thought. I expected that the cheaters would only receive a warning” (via reddit).
User Statcat2017, on the other hand, finds the punishment not that severe: “A bunch of bad players got the best rewards they will ever get. 7 days is peanuts, most of them will miss a WL they wouldn’t even qualify for.”
Also, aside from the no-loss glitch, it was a strange Weekend League. While some players cheated on Friday to avoid losses, others willingly forfeited their wins. You can find out more about this here: In FIFA 22, players are intentionally losing because the Weekend League is running quite differently.
What do you think of the bans? Do you find them justified, or should EA respond differently? Let us know in the comments!
