When will the demo for FIFA 21 be released? Here we collect all information regarding the release date, the content, and the download for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Update, September 22: EA Sports will not release a demo for FIFA 21. Therefore, there will be no early version of the game outside of EA Play this year. The demo decision has been met with criticism by many players.
Here continues with the original article.
When will the FIFA 21 demo be released? Currently, there is no official information about the release date of the FIFA 21 demo. However, you can rely on experiences from previous years to estimate a rough period for the demo release.
FIFA 21 will be released this year on October 9, 2020, with a few options available to start playing earlier. Generally, the demo is released about two weeks prior. Last year, FIFA 20 started on September 24, 2019. The demo came 14 days earlier, on September 10.
Here is the likely release date and time for the FIFA 21 demo: If EA Sports remains true to its previous pattern, the demo will be released on September 25, 2020.
The time is also not known yet, but last year the demo could be downloaded from 4 PM.
FIFA 21: Download for PS4, Xbox One, and PC
On which platforms will the demo be available? The demo will likely only be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Nintendo Switch players should not expect a demo based on previous years.
The Switch will only receive a “Legacy Edition” of FIFA 21 without new modes and game content other than updated squads and visuals, as in previous years.
The next-gen versions of FIFA 21 for PS5 and Xbox Series X will be released at a later date. It is unlikely that they will receive a separate demo if that happens. However, the next-gen versions will come with new features.
Where can I download the demo? Once the demo is available, it will be accessible in the respective online stores of the consoles. On PC, the demo will likely be available via Origin. Since FIFA 21 will also be released on Steam this year, a possible demo release there is also conceivable.
FIFA 21: What modes and teams are in the demo?
What can we play in the demo? In the past, the demo has always been a heavily restricted version of the main game. So don’t expect too many modes. However, there will be enough to test the gameplay innovations of FIFA 21. We expect the following modes:
- Kick-off: The kick-off mode is basically guaranteed. The simple game against the computer or a friend has always been included and will also be this year the opportunity to try out the gameplay.
- Volta: Volta was added last year and is expected to be enhanced with some innovations this year. Volta was present in the demo in FIFA 20 – and it would be no surprise if it is again this year.

Which teams are included? Nothing is official yet, but usually, you can try a small selection of larger teams. Last year, those included Dortmund, Chelsea, Liverpool, PSG, Real Madrid, and Tottenham.
Since Kylian Mbappé is the cover star this year, it is likely that PSG will be playable again. In the last reveal trailer, the following teams were also seen:
- Dortmund
- Atletico Madrid
- Liverpool
In the first trailer, the following teams were also visible:
- Real Madrid
- Manchester City
- Tottenham
- Chelsea
It is likely that the demo teams will at least partially correspond to those that played a role in the trailers.
As soon as official information about the demo in FIFA 21 becomes available, we will update this article. All previously official information about the game has been summarized in our overview of FIFA 21.
