In FIFA 20 there is now a new Icon SBC. We show you what you need to do for it, which players can be included and whether the effort is worth it.
What kind of SBC is this? In addition to the Icon Swaps, this is the first time in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team that you can earn a base Icon card through a Squad Building Challenge. For this, you need to exchange an 83-rated team, two 86-rated teams, and one 87-rated team.
The SBC runs until December 20, 2019.
How much does the SBC cost? According to futbin, the Squad Building Challenge currently costs around 585,000 coins (as of November 23, 2019) on PlayStation 4. That’s quite a lot and many players would probably have to sell their entire team for it.
Which players can be included? After completing the SBC, all base Icon cards can be contained in the pack. This also includes true top cards like Ronaldo, Zidane, Pele, and Eusebio.
However, there are also some really “weak” icons like Lehmann, Schmeichel, and Litmanen. The problem is that the value of these cards is significantly lower than that of the SBC.
These are the 5 most expensive base icons:
- Eusebio (89) – 4,780,000 coins
- Pele (91) – 2,300,000 coins
- Ronaldo (90) – 2,700,000 coins
- Cruyff (89) – 2,680,000 coins
- Zidane (91) – 2,660,000 coins
These are the 5 cheapest base icons:
- Lehmann (85) – 138,000 coins
- Schmeichel (86) – 138,000 coins
- Inzaghi (85) – 149,000 coins
- Litmanen (85) – 173,000 coins
- Pires (85) – 181,000 coins
An Eusebio would therefore be the absolute top result when it comes to the value of the card. But players like Best (88), Ferdinand (85), and Figo (88) would also be a pretty good haul.
But keep in mind that the cards are untradeable and you cannot offer them on the transfer market!

Is the Icon SBC worth it?
A matter of luck: As often in FUT, it depends on the luck you have when opening packs. If luck is on your side, you can get an incredibly strong Icon card. However, there are more weak than strong Icon cards in FUT 20.
The risk is therefore high and you would need particularly good pack luck for a really strong Icon card.
A matter of your budget: If you have to turn every coin in FUT 20 and find it difficult to scrape together the necessary coins for the SBC, then it’s probably not for you. In that case, if only a weak Icon card comes out, you’ll be really annoyed.
Therefore, invest your hard-earned coins wisely in your FUT team.
However, if you have a few hundred thousand coins saved up, then feel free to try your luck. Just be aware that there is a good chance of not pulling a top card.
This is what the community says
These results are shown by FUT players: On reddit, there is a heated discussion about whether the SBC is worth it. Many players also show what they have packed. Many top cards seem to be missing.
One reddit user lists his 4 attempts at the Icon SBC:
- Koemann
- Nesta
- Petit
- Koemann
And he says: “Feel free to write to me if you need tips on how to best waste 2 million coins in FIFA.”
The best way to get an overview of the chances of pulling top cards is from the YouTuber Nick – RunTheFUTMarket. He opened 100 packs together with the community and shows the results:
