In FIFA 19 Ultimate Team, you can now join the Weekend League even if it has already started. This change is permanent.
EA Sports is currently working hard on the key modes in FUT 19: Division Rivals and the Weekend League.
Just yesterday, we reported that the required skill ratings for each division in Division Rivals have been adjusted and that it is now quicker to earn good rewards and qualify for the Weekend League.
This is changing for the Weekend League: A few hours ago, EA Sports announced the next change. From now on, the start time of the Weekend League is permanently relaxed. You can now join the competition up to 24 hours after the actual start of the Weekend League.
What you need to know about the new Weekend League start
All info about the Weekend League start: The Weekend League always starts on Fridays at 8 AM.
Until now, players had to redeem their FUT Champions Points before the 8 AM deadline to qualify for the current Weekend League in time. If they missed the deadline, they had to wait a week to participate.
From now on, you have until Saturday morning (up to 24 hours after Friday at 8 AM) to retroactively register for the current Weekend League.
If you realize today, on March 29th, in the afternoon: “Oh no, I actually have a lot of time to play this weekend”, you can still qualify for the Weekend League now.
This new participation period looks like this in-game:
EA Sports emphasizes that after this change, you must check whether you registered for the correct competition.
Only after this new registration period can you register for the Weekend League for the next week.
Your FUT Champions Points can also be redeemed in the Web App and Companion App to qualify in time.
This is how fans are reacting: Although this change has only been known for a few hours, a post about it on FIFA Reddit has already received around 1000 upvotes. Players write:

The change is well received in the community as it gives players more flexibility. If you find out relatively late how much time you will have on the weekend, this change works in your favor.
Info on Weekend League qualification: With every game and every win in Division Rivals, you not only earn skill rating points for Division Rivals but also FUT Champions Points. If you have accumulated enough of these points (2000), you can purchase access to the Weekend League.
