In the coming week, the first round of 16 matches of the UEFA Champions League will take place. In FIFA 19, the return will be celebrated accordingly.
Statistics for the Champions League mode in FIFA 19: The Champions League mode was one of the major innovations in this year’s FIFA edition. In FIFA 19, you can realistically recreate the tournament for the first time in the history of the series.
And the players are taking part in the tournament: According to EA, more than 55 million matches have already been played in over 186 countries.
The mode appears particularly popular in France: There, a total of 4.3 million Champions League matches have been played, with Italy ranking second with 4.2 million matches. In Germany, there are currently 3.4 million.
The record holders in the Champions League mode
This is the current record champion: Juventus Turin has achieved the most wins. The Italian record champion won around 5 million matches. On the podium are Paris St. Germain (4 million wins) and Real Madrid (2 million wins), followed by Manchester City (2 million) and Bayern Munich (1 million).
This is the Champions League all-time top scorer: The fact that Juventus Turin wins so often is no coincidence: With Cristiano Ronaldo, the club has the most successful scorer of the CL mode in its ranks. Players have scored with “CR7” a total of 5.4 million times – Ronaldo is thus just as goal-dangerous in the Champions League as in FUT. Following him are Neymar, Cavani, Mbappé, and Dybala.
New cover, new content
These are the new cover stars: Via Twitter EA Sports announced “great new content” in FIFA 19 for the return of the Champions League. Among other things, FIFA 19 now features a new cover. This cover no longer features Cristiano Ronaldo. Instead, Neymar, Kevin de Bruyne, and Paulo Dybala are in the foreground. In the background, a new design in the Champions League colors can be seen.

The Champions League in FUT
New content for FUT newcomers: Those who are buying the game now and are entering the Ultimate Team mode of FIFA 19 for the first time can look forward to special CL content for their club. New players receive:
- A “potential Champions League winner”: Neymar, Kevin de Bruyne, or Paulo Dybala as loan players for ten matches
- Special Champions League kits
- Five Champions League player items
Whether these specials will also be made available to established FUT players is currently unknown. In Ultimate Team, the Champions League has played a major role for a while: In addition to the Champions League player items, there are also the dynamic RTTF cards. CL SBCs or weekly tasks have also been added repeatedly.
It will be exciting to see if EA Sports has thought of more Champions League specials for the start of the knockout round. Additionally, the Lunar New Year Event could also be coming soon.
