Without coins (Coins), nothing works in FUT 18. You need them to supply your players with contracts and consumables, to maintain your manager, and, most importantly, to strengthen your team with good players.

However, this method alone is rarely sufficient to afford the coveted top players – unless you invest an extreme amount of time. One method to quickly accumulate many coins at the start is trading. However, this always involves a certain risk.
“Coins through Trading” Guide – How to Trade Successfully in FUT 18
First of all, the note: Trading is not necessarily associated with “fun” and can turn into real work. However, if you trade successfully, you can efficiently accumulate coins this way.
The principle of trading is simple: You buy a player or any other card as cheaply as possible and sell it at a higher price. That sounds quite simple and straightforward at first.
However, there are two catches:
- EA charges a fee for each trade. This EA fee is 5%. In other words: If you sell a player for 1000 coins on the transfer market, only 950 coins will be credited to you. EA keeps the remaining 50 coins. You must be aware of this 5% loss in every trading action. Because at higher sums, these 5% weigh heavily.
- There is no guarantee that you will be able to sell the bought players or objects. Prices on the transfer market are volatile. A player may lose value quickly, and you might not be able to get rid of them. Then you will be stuck with the costs and may have to sell them below the purchase price. Losses are unfortunately part of trading. There is no guaranteed success.
Tips and Tricks for Trading on the Transfer Market
Important tips to start with, before we look at two methods:
- Start trading as early as possible: The earlier you start trading in the season, the faster and more successful you will accumulate coins. Especially at the beginning, the market is still unstable, allowing you to make excellent deals. However, you must absolutely keep the following tip in mind.
- Take your time to study the market: There is no guaranteed formula for success in trading; otherwise, everyone would use it. You must do most of the work yourself; we can only provide tips. You need to observe the market well. Look at the average selling prices for certain (player) cards and buy them when they are cheap. You can use the site FUTBin to monitor prices. The prices also vary depending on your platform: The transfer markets on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC are different!
- Familiarize yourself with the “FUT 18” web app with which you can trade comfortably on PC.
- Focus on a specific part of the transfer market: There are thousands upon thousands of cards on the market. You can never keep the prices of all cards in your head. Therefore, select specific players or consumables (such as team fitness cards) and observe them. To take advantage of deals that arise, you must also be quick. Therefore, focus on specific cards.
- Expand your transfer list, so you can always offer multiple cards. Upgrades are available in the “EAS FC” catalog.
Experienced users have developed numerous methods in FUT over the years on how to efficiently accumulate coins. Here are two of them.
The 59 Minute Method
The transfer market offers hundreds of thousands of players and objects around the clock. How do you find a bargain? Especially since the introduction of price ranges, it has become more challenging to find really good deals.
However, it still occasionally happens that a careless player offers a player very cheaply. If the buy-it-now price is low, it pays to act quickly. The problem is, you will not be the only one watching for such offers.
To get ahead of your opponents for these bargains, you can use the 59 Minute Method. Here you proceed so that you do not look at players whose offer timer is almost expired, but those whose time is still about 59 minutes. Most players set an hour for the offered time, which is why you have the best chances of snagging cheap offers within this timeframe. You just need to refresh the page frequently and exercise patience.
The Maintenance Method
The “FIFA 18 FUT” servers need maintenance from time to time to fix any bugs. These maintenance work is usually announced in advance or can also occur unexpectedly. They often last several hours.
You can use this maintenance work to your advantage: Because during these works, the transfer market is not stopped. EA itself recommends setting a satisfactory minimum price for your cards before announced maintenance to avoid unpleasant surprises. But there are many PC and console players who do not heed this advice.
You must therefore place cheap offers shortly before maintenance and just wait for the work to be completed. The cheaply acquired cards should then belong to you. It is necessary that you inform yourself when EA is making repairs and respond accordingly and flexibly to these times.
Additional Notes and Tips
Since there is so much to consider when trading, we will also list a few tips in brief:
- You need a certain starting capital to be able to buy the cards you want to trade with. The rule is: The more you invest, the higher the chances of success – but also the risk of loss.
- Trading beginners should therefore start with cards that represent a lower risk (valued around 300 with a profit of 50%).
- Ensure that your transfer list is always full. Otherwise, you will have fewer chances of making a profit efficiently.
- Use time-limited tournaments and SBCs. As soon as a tournament with specific conditions is announced, buy players with the corresponding tournament requirements as quickly as possible. These players rapidly increase in value and can be sold at a high price. You must be quick here.
- Pay attention to the time of day when you buy and sell cards. Prices usually rise in the evening, while they are cheap in the morning. Prices change throughout the day.
- A good time to buy players on the market is during Champions League matches!
