Since February 2017, we’ve known that the Nintendo Switch will receive a FIFA game this year. It is a streamlined version of FIFA 18, specifically designed for the Switch to be.

At E3 2017, EA Sports revealed new information about FIFA 18 on the Switch. It is said to be the best FIFA for a mobile device – but with compromises.

FIFA 18 – What the Switch version offers

EA Sports lists these features for the Switch version of FIFA 18:

• Thanks to new rendering technology, it promises to be the most advanced FIFA experience ever on a handheld, with new pitch environments, realistic player likenesses, and new gameplay mechanics.

These are the available, currently known game modes: FIFA Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Switch Kick-Off, Local Seasons, Online Seasons, Tournaments, Women’s Teams, and Skill Games. The “Ultimate Team” mode will feature a transfer market, squad-building challenges, and new features that will be introduced over the summer.

If the Switch is in the docking station, the game is said to run in 1080p according to EA. In handheld mode, it’s 720p. FIFA 18 Switch has an online and local multiplayer, allowing you to play against your friends even in places without WiFi.

What content is missing on the Nintendo Switch?

Compared to the “FIFA 18” version on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, the Switch has several compromises:

• The game does not run on the Frostbite Engine
• The story mode “The Journey: Hunter Returns” is missing
• The icons in Ultimate Team are only available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. There hasn’t been any mention of the Switch until now – Update: Yes, the icons are also available on the Switch.
