The Gamescom trailer for FIFA 17 has been released. Moreover, new features in the “Ultimate Team” mode have been introduced.
FIFA 17 is set to become the “biggest FIFA ever”. The Pro Clubs mode is being revamped, there are Variations in Career mode, the Frostbite engine provides improved graphics and atmosphere – and the popular FUT mode will also see updates.
However, all this is of little value if the gameplay isn’t right. Because what happens on the pitch is crucial. To make the in-game gameplay appealing to fans, a new trailer was presented at Gamescom. You can watch it here:
Squad-Building Challenges in FIFA 17 FUT
A significant innovation in the FUT mode are the so-called Squad-Building Challenges, which are challenges where you have to create specific teams. The idea behind this is that you choose a specific task (e.g., create an MLS team), then build that team using your cards in the club – you can draw these from packs or purchase them on the transfer market – and once you’ve completed the challenge, you exchange the team for rewards. This is also possible on the app.
This also gives “useless” cards you draw from packs that you don’t want to use in your actual team a purpose. Normally you would sell them on the transfer market or quick sell them – now you also have the option to save these for the Squad-Building Challenges and convert them into rewards.
When creating the team, you need to fulfill several objectives: a certain number of nations, leagues, a specific required team chemistry, overall rating, and a few more.
FUT Champions and “Weekend League”
Another new mode is called FUT Champions. In FUT Champions, you must qualify for the “Weekend League” by completing online matches. Here you can earn the best rewards in the entire game. For a short time, rewards of 250k coins were visible.
To get the best rewards, you need to rank up first. For the first rank, for example, it’s enough to complete just 5 matches. There are various ranks which are divided into gold, silver, and bronze. The higher you rank up, the stronger your opponents will be. Depending on your rank, you’ll play against correspondingly strong other players.
