With patch 5.45, players can now enhance their relics twice.
To upgrade your Resistance weapon to version 5.45, you must first upgrade it to the version of patch 5.35. If you missed this step, you can read all about it here in our special guides:
FFXIV 5.45: Upgrade of the Resistance Weapons
To unlock the next upgrade of your Resistance weapon, you must first start the next quest in the queen’s watch questline in Gangos by speaking to Marsak (X: 6.4 Y: 5.7) and accepting the quest “Memories of the Queen”.
This quest will lead you to the new dungeon Delubrum Reginae, which is designed for 24 players. After completing the dungeon, you can start your weapon upgrade.
To upgrade your relic, get the quest named “Recrafted Swords” from Gerolt in Gangos (X:6.2 Y:5.0). This quest is immediately followed by the second quest named “Well Hammered”.
For the first step of the upgrade, you need to collect 15 “Mourning Clumps of Memory,” which you can farm at the following locations:
- Critical Battles at the Bozjan Southern Front
- In the 24-man raid Crystal Tower
We tested participating in a Critical Battle for you. Obtaining a Mourning Clump of Memory is not guaranteed. When you do the Crystal Tower in unsynced mode, you do not receive Clumps.
FFXIV 5.45: Clumps of Unrest and Wrath
According to the reddit user Hakul, the next step of the upgrade takes you away from the Bozjan Southern Front.
To complete the quest named “Help from the House of Wonders”, players must collect 18 Clumps of Unrest.
These can be obtained by:
- Completing the 24-man raid of the expansion Heavensward
- Completing FATEs in areas of Gyr Abania
Additionally, you must collect 18 Clumps of Wrath. You can obtain these by:
- Completing the 24-man raids of the expansion Stormblood
- Completing FATEs in the areas of Othard
After bringing the Clumps to Gerolt, you can accept the final quest of this upgrade: “Weapons by Choice”.
FFXIV 5.45: Earthen Artifacts
To complete this level of the weapon upgrade and the quest “Weapons by Choice”, you will need to deliver 15 Earthen Artifacts to Gerolt.
You can farm these by completing the following content:
- The new dungeon “Delubrum Reginae” at the Southern Front of Bozja.
- The “Palace of the Dead”
