In Far Cry 5, Ubisoft has once again packed a lot of nice little details, references, and hints that there are to discover and that many players are looking forward to. Some of them are hard to find, while others are easily overlooked. We will show you some cool Easter eggs that you may have missed.
Although Easter is already over, this does not stop many amateur resistance fighters in Far Cry 5 from still going on an egg hunt. The so-called Easter eggs are small hidden surprises, references, or allusions to other games, movies, or other media that the developers have placed in a game and that can be discovered in-game.
The search for these Easter eggs is very popular among players and has almost become a tradition in the Far Cry series. Some of these surprises are easy or even casually found, while others are well hidden or can be easily overlooked.
We will now show you some cool Easter eggs from Far Cry 5 that you may have overlooked.
Trump’s Pee Tape
The mission “Patriotism in Action” in Far Cry 5 pokes fun at the sitting US president.
The well-known CIA agent Willis Huntley is personally tasked by the “big man” to recover a compromising VHS tape that was recorded by a hotel employee and has now fallen into the hands of the Seed family. This tape could greatly harm “The Big Man” should it become public.
We are to provide a service to our country and help the agent with his mission. During the mission, it is repeatedly emphasized over the radio, “The bed is wet” and one should follow the “yellow brick road”.
Although Donald Trump is not mentioned by name, the reference becomes quite clear quickly. Trump is said to have paid a prostitute in a Moscow luxury hotel in 2017 to urinate on the bed where Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are said to have slept.
Inside Eden’s Gate – The Far Cry Short Film
Shortly before the release of Far Cry 5, Ubisoft released the 30-minute film “Inside Eden’s Gate”. In this short film, rumors about the fanatical cult “The Project at Eden’s Gate” lure the three vloggers Alex, Sara, and Hannah to Hope County.
They follow the traces of missing locals and other strange events, and infiltrate the cult during the course of the story. Shocked by what they discover, they risk everything to warn the world, but end up in the clutches of the sect.
While the film allows for its own conclusions about the fate of Sara and Hannah, Alex’s fate remains open. Here, the game itself provides the appropriate answer.
At the Steele Farm in John’s region, one can find a note and the mutilated body of Alex, suggesting that the cultists tortured him to death and displayed his mortal remains as a warning to like-minded individuals.
Ghost Busters – The Ghost Hunters
There is also an unmistakable reference to the famous Ghostbusters in the picturesque Hope County.
At the reception of King’s Hot Springs Hotel in Faith’s region, you can find a note from a ghostbuster bragging about the paranormal activities at this dive. The ectoplasm would literally be in the air here. The note ends with the slightly altered famous quote “Who am I gonna call?”
In the same hotel, there is another note – this time from a cult follower – which also ends with a slightly altered Ghostbusters quote – “Angels ain’t afraid of no ghosts.”
Preacher
A reference to the famous Preacher comics has also slipped into the game. You can find a lighter in a bunker at Rae Rae’s Pumpkin Farm in John’s region, whose description reads “Fuck Communism”.
Fans will recognize this inscription immediately. The protagonist of the comic series – a preacher and passionate cigar smoker Jesse Custer – also owns a Zippo with this engraving.
The Scopolamine Formula
Faith is Joseph’s voice and also the drug queen of Far Cry 5. She produces the drug Bliss to keep the community in a state of bliss.
That she is wholly dedicated to the drug is shown by a tattoo on her left forearm.
There you see a seemingly random combination of numbers and letters – C17H21NO4. Further research reveals that this is the actual chemical formula for scopolamine and cocaine. Both substances have the same formula – only the structure differs.
Scopolamine is also the active ingredient that is derived from the Bliss plant in Far Cry 5. This acts as a mild sedative and inhibitory agent on the vomiting center in the brain at low dosage. At higher dosage, it has a sedative effect and induces a state of apathy and lack of will, which also explains Faith’s phenomenal powers of persuasion.
