Blizzard is selling a box with physical contents for Diablo 4 and calls it the Collector’s Box. It costs a whopping 110 € – at least. However, a game is not included. This has led to discussions, but they completely overlook an important fact.
What is the problem with the edition? Strictly speaking, there is no Collector’s Edition of Diablo 4, but only a Collector’s Box. The box does not contain a game, which has been known for many months. Back then, there were already comments and excitement about the issue.
Now, the release of the game on June 6 is approaching, and with the new and final beta from May 12 to 14, Diablo 4 has become even more important and exciting. But another topic is currently drawing the community back to the boxes.
The Diablo streamer wudijo received the Collector’s Box earlier than planned and has already shown the contents. The box contains, among other things, a thick book with artworks, a stylish E-candle, and a world map of Diablo 4 made of fabric.
The contents are causing fans to argue whether Blizzard is just being greedy, as it does not even include a game.
In our overview, you will find all info about Diablo 4. In the video, you can see our first impression of Diablo 4 after the beta tests:
“Not even as a billionaire would I spend money on this business model”
Under our article here on MeinMMO as well as on Facebook, dozens of comments from readers came in discussing the topic of the boxes. Most often, people ridicule the fact that the box comes without a game.
Because in the official Blizzard Store, the item costs a whopping 110 euros and also comes without a game. For the cheapest digital edition of Diablo 4, an additional 70 euros are required.
On Facebook, for example, it says: “Who buys a Collector’s Edition without a game? Sometimes you really wonder…”. Other users even see it as a direction that could potentially shape the future:
I hope that it does not become a trend to release collector’s editions without a game. With D4, I still suspect that it is purely about profit maximization to capitalize on the hype.

However, there are also some readers who have more nuanced views. And it should also be noted: the Collector’s Box of Diablo 4 is by no means “more expensive” than others when looking at the current price trends in the gaming industry.
Collector’s Box + game is not more expensive than other Collector’s Editions
Compared to other major franchise games, Diablo 4 is absolutely reasonable. The Collector’s Box plus game costs from 180 € (excluding shipping). Here is an overview of some collector’s editions of other, newer games:
- God of War: Ragnarök: 215 €
- Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla: 200 €
- Elden Ring: 190 €
- Cyberpunk 2077: 172 €
Some users see certain advantages in the idea of selling the contents and the game separately. The physical contents are only for fans who definitely want something like this and they then do not have to wait:
Who wants to wait forever for the box when it starts at midnight? Better to have the box without the game and pre-order digitally in the store.

Our reader Bahaha sees it similarly. The price is not higher than for other games, but you have more options for what you want digitally – due to the various editions.
The only thing that is really to be criticized here are the absurd shipping costs. Who orders the Collector’s Box in the German shop pays 78 € in shipping costs. No one really knows how they come about.
You even pay less if you buy the box from the UK shop and import it, even with customs. So far, we have not received an official response from Blizzard regarding this matter.
However, Blizzard recently answered questions about another topic that has been heavily discussed by the community since the beta, the appearance of the characters:
Blizzard explains to us why druids in Diablo 4 are “fat” and necromancers are so skinny
