A large majority of all PC gamers rely on graphics cards from NVIDIA. The company has now reached a significant milestone on the stock market.
What’s the deal with the tents?
- In January 2025, NVIDIA launched the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090. The 50 series is the current youngest generation of the company’s graphics cards.
- For some customers, the launch of the RTX 5080 and 5090 was such an important event that they camped 3 days before the launch in front of a store. A photo on Reddit showed the campers outside the doors of the US technology store “Micro Center”.
- The campers wanted to secure one of the popular graphics cards early, as especially the first batch was available in limited quantities.
NVIDIA reaches historical milestone
This is the latest development: NVIDIA has evolved into a tech giant over the past few years and reached a historical milestone on July 9: NVIDIA is the first company in history to achieve a market value of 4 trillion USD (via Fortune).
Never before has a company crossed the threshold of 4 trillion dollars. NVIDIA thus continues to reign at the top of the stock market, surpassing other tech companies like Microsoft and Apple (via companiesmarketcap).
At the beginning of the year, NVIDIA briefly lost around 600 billion euros in market value after the Chinese AI company DeepSeek presented a new AI model that works with less powerful and cheaper chips. NVIDIA investors feared that the demand for NVIDIA’s high-performance GPUs for AI development might decline and panic sold their shares.
What significance does NVIDIA have for gamers? NVIDIA holds a high value among gamers. Many PC players rely on the company’s graphics cards to play modern games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, or the upcoming Borderlands 4.
A look at the Steam hardware charts for June 2025 reveals that around 69.48% of all gamers on Steam use a graphics card from NVIDIA – the 3060 and 4060 are particularly popular. In 2nd place are the graphics cards from AMD with only 15.32%. Only 5.41 percent use a graphics card from Intel.
