Jason Momoa’s character “The Garbage Man” in the movie about Minecraft could be heavily inspired by a well-known influencer, according to fans. However, a clear answer as to whether this is true will probably never exist for good reason.
Which influencer is being referred to? Fans who have seen the new Minecraft movie see several clear parallels between the character “Garbage Man” Garrett Garrison played by Jason Momoa and the Twitch streamer DrDisrespect, also known as Guy Beahm. That’s why they believe that Jason Momoa’s character is based on him.
However, these parallels are not without problems: In summer 2024, it was revealed that DrDisrespect had received a ban on Twitch for sending inappropriate messages to minors. This information was only published after the main filming of the movie had been completed a few months ago, making any subsequent changes very difficult.
Given that Minecraft attracts many young people, an official confirmation of the fans’ theory is therefore unlikely for good reason.

What parallels do fans see? In various threads on Reddit, fans share their theories about the parallels between Jason Momoa’s character and the streamer DrDisrespect. For example, Garbage Man is known as the video game world champion of 1989. In this regard, DrDisrespect has made his title as the blockbuster video game world champion from 1993 to 1994 a substantial part of his personality. Additionally, both wear distinctive clothing and have a very similar style.
User TR1CL0PS also shares his observations via Reddit: “The gaming championship of 1989, Pitviper sunglasses, long hair with facial hair, boastful demeanor, one-liners, and sometimes speaking Spanish. It definitely felt like they were inspired by Doc.”
DepravitySixx opens his thread on Reddit with the words: “It is absolutely impossible that Garbage Man is not at least partially based on DrDisrespect” and also cites the aforementioned points, as well as a flashy red car as a status symbol.
However, even if Jason Momoa’s character is based on the well-known influencer, it may never be officially confirmed. And as has been said, for good reason. Officially, a well-known German streamer was supposed to be part of the film as well.
