The prices of Borderlands 4 are finally known, and fans may not like the most expensive edition at all. Previously, there was already trouble with the boss, who had no problem with a price tag of €80.
How expensive is Borderlands 4? The latest installment in the Borderlands series is set to be released on September 12, 2025, and is available in the cheapest variant for €69.99. The Deluxe Edition is offered for €99.99, and the Super Deluxe Edition for €129.99 on Steam.
Buyers of the Deluxe Edition will receive a weapon skin as well as DLCs that will be available after the release. Those who buy the most expensive edition will receive an exclusive skin pack, which will be available from the release, and two additional expansions that will be added to the game after the release.
At €69.99, Borderlands 4 is below the feared €80 price tag from the fans, but even the new prices do not sit well with the players.

The boss strikes back
Has the boss of Borderlands 4 commented yet? Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox, caused major controversy in the community with several statements about the price of the upcoming Borderlands 4. Initially, he explained to a fan that he had also worked for an $80 game back in the 90s, which many fans found arrogant and condescending.
Then the boss explained in 557 words that he was misunderstood, but the community did not find his apology sincere and the backlash continued. Pitchford then struck again and promoted the Borderlands spin-off ‘Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’, which was free on Epic Games, with a post that included the word “free” at every possible opportunity. This reignited the anger of the community.

How are the fans reacting? The fans of Borderlands 4 are unhappy with the prices. Due to the exchange rate of various currencies into dollars, some prices exceed the $80 price tag, as user @GreyDestiny emphasizes on X.com. For example, €69.99 is over $81, and CHF 69.99 is over $86 (as of June 16, 2025, 5:30 PM).
User @GimmickEiGhT from Canada also complains on X.com: “180 Canadian dollars for the Super Deluxe Edition? That’s about 1/4 of my paycheck, damn.”
Similarly, user YungNiccolo67 on Reddit thinks: “The Super Deluxe version costs about $200 in Canada, I find that a bit crazy.” However, user Aggressive_Silver574 directly responds with their plan: “Just wait a year and it will be 75% cheaper. The only reason they set the prices for toys so high is that there are sheep out there who just follow blindly and do what the next person does.”
Even without a direct price increase, Borderlands 4 at €69.99 is not a bargain for many. Also interesting are the high requirements for PCs. It is recommended to have an Nvidia Geforce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, which still belong to the high-end segment.
