The German streamer Kevin “PapaPlatte” Teller talks about a terrifying hotel stay in one of his recent streams. A fan of his works in that very hotel. How long that will remain the case is uncertain after the break-in into Teller’s room.
What did the fan do? Surely, each of you has met one of your idols on the street during gamescom or another event at some point. Maybe you even approached him or her and asked for a photo. Perhaps you even made an insider joke to grab their attention?
A fan of the German streamer PapaPlatte acted similarly. Unlike you in our fictional example, he did not meet his idol in a public space.
To be more precise: There could hardly have been a more private space than one’s own hotel room for the harassment to occur. The fan actually broke in there. It gets worse with a note that the fan left for the streamer.
By Day Hotel Staff, By Night Fan and Burglar
This is how the fan got into the room: The unknown person gained access to PapaPlatte’s room by searching for his booking in the hotel system. At least that is what the streamer believes, as he cannot otherwise explain how the fan managed to find and enter the room.
This was not a classic break-in. The hotel employee – alias the fan – must have gained access with a key card. Upon entering the room, he then left an embarrassing and very private note for Teller and his girlfriend.
This suspicion is reinforced for PapaPlatte because the letter was much too thick to be slipped under the narrow door slot. The note to Kevin Teller read:
Nice to see you, Kevin. A loyal viewer. P.S: Don’t worry, I work here, so there wasn’t a stalker with you. I saw your instastory and recognized our floor. P.P.S: I particularly like thick d**ks, PaPaL in the chat.
The streamer reports the incident in shock. According to him, laundry and other personal items were still scattered around the room. Who would like to know that a stranger might have rummaged through their most private belongings?
Complaint at the Hotel Causes Outrage and a Big Apology
When checking out of the hotel, Teller took the note to the reception. Here, he explained to the reception staff what had happened. They could hardly believe in shock that something like this could happen in their own hotel.
The hotel apologized for the incident and offered a bottle of sparkling wine as a gesture of goodwill. They also promised that the staff would search for the author of the note and confront him.
Meanwhile, PapaPlatte can laugh about the incident, but the situation itself is anything but funny, and one could tell that it affected the streamer (via youtube.com). So far, there is no information about the fan, nor any news on whether he has already been identified by the hotel staff.
