A community tournament aims to revive Evolve and unite the remaining players. A new chance or a lost cause?
The asymmetrical monster-hunting game Evolve has officially “died” a while ago, as it is no longer being developed. However, a small, dedicated community still plays the game today and continuously tries to excite new players for Evolve. Now they are even organizing their own community tournament.
On April 14, the community is hosting a tournament where both solo players and entire teams of 5 can sign up.

Even though the trailer grandly proclaims, “Do you think Evolve is dead? You couldn’t be more wrong!”, this of course doesn’t mask the average player count of 200-500 players on PC who still play daily.
The fact is, however, that Evolve has not been developed since October 2016 – so for about 18 months. The game did not survive the transition to Free2Play and 2K unexpectedly pulled the plug after the release of the last update in October.
However, the tournament is a nice gesture and at least shows the perseverance of the small but loyal community.
Cortyn says: While I appreciate such efforts from the community to keep a beloved game alive, it certainly will not bring about a significant turnaround. Still, a nice gesture that might attract one or two new players to Evolve – as the game is still exciting and good. If you have never checked out the 4vs1 fun, you can still do so, as Evolve is free.
