The family event has started in Pokémon GO! In line with this, the spawns have changed, and new field research is available. We provide an overview.
How long does the event last? You have almost a week to take advantage of the event. The event is live until December 2nd at 10 PM.
During this time, you can catch Pokémon themed around “Family”. You also have a significant advantage in battles in raids.
Everything you need to know about the family event
What are the bonuses? These have been known in advance. So there are:
- Pokémon themed around “Family” in the wild and in field research
- 2x special trade per day
- Trading now costs only half the stardust
- In raids, you can fight more effectively with friends
These spawns are available: In total, there are 7 Pokémon that can be caught more frequently in the wild. These include:
- Nidoran male*
- Nidoran female*
- Doduo
- Magneton*
- Diglett*
- Fearow
- Hoothoot
The Pokémon with the asterisk (*) can also be encountered as Shiny.
Except for the two Nidoran, all Pokémon or their evolutions have multiple heads or faces. This seems to be the decisive point for the increased spawns.
Are there new Shinies? No reports on that. You have 4 potential Shinies to chase during the event.
What new quests are there? A total of 6 new field researches await you, revolving around the event Pokémon:
- Catch a Nidoran male
- Reward: encounter with a Nidoran female
- Catch a Nidoran female
- Reward: encounter with a Nidoran male
- Trade a Pokémon with a friend
- Reward: encounter with a Nidorina or Nidorino
- Trade a Pokémon with a friend
- Reward: 500 stardust
- Add 3 new friends
- Reward: encounter with a Nidoking or Nidoqueen
- Win a trainer battle against another trainer
- Reward: encounter with a Dodrio
What about the raid bonus? Players on reddit report a strong bonus in battle. It is said to be about a 20% battle bonus. This means that you can complete raids with friends significantly easier and faster.
A duo of Terrakion is now significantly easier to handle than before. So it is worthwhile to team up with a friend.
