The 2nd season of Fallout shows in trailers that once again many elements of the games find their way into the series. A dangerous faction will likely play an important role, threatening the entire wasteland.
Which faction is it? Also in the first long trailer for the 2nd season of Fallout, members of Caesar’s Legion can again be seen. The faction was a central part of the game Fallout: New Vegas, which seems to be a significant source of inspiration for the new season.
The Legion is not just another faction trying to assert its goals; it is a significant threat that relies on the Roman Empire and could become a major problem in season 2.

A nasty dictator who loved the Roman Empire a bit too much
What is Caesar’s Legion? The faction was founded by Edward Sallow, who was once a member of the Followers of the Apocalypse. During a mission, he was captured by the Blackfoot tribe. To prevent his death, he helped the tribe with tactics from the Roman Empire. Before his capture, he found books about the Roman Empire and studied them extensively.
Through his tactics, the Blackfoot tribe was able to defeat other tribes, and Sallow gradually became the leader, who thereafter called himself Caesar. He conquered other tribes, integrated them into his group, and killed those who resisted. His goal: He wants to conquer the New California Republic.
To carry out his campaign, he relies on certain cornerstones:
- All conquered tribes must submit to his principles and the beliefs of the Legion to create loyal warriors
- He rules as a totalitarian dictator and eliminates anyone who does not wish to be led by him
- For the
peace
, a homogeneous culture and society must emerge - Under his leadership, the individual has value only as a worker for the Legion
- Technology is frowned upon because, according to Caesar, humanity can only grow through hardship
The warriors of the Legion must undergo harsh training, and in war, Caesar relies not only on a hierarchical structure and troop strength; he also attempts to psychologically attack his opponents with cruel deeds.
The series could explain what happened after New Vegas
What happened to Caesar’s Legion? In 2282, there was a final and second battle at Hoover Dam (the first was lost by the Legion in 2277). The fate of the region and the entire Mojave wasteland lies with the player and the decisions they make throughout the game.
If one chooses to side with the Legion, one saves Caesar from a tumor. This allows them to conquer the wasteland together with the faction.
However, if the player decides to fight against Caesar’s Legion and even kills the leader, it must be explained what happened between the game and the series. The series takes place in 2297, 15 years after the second battle at Hoover Dam.
Thus, the question for the 2nd season is whether the Legion has rebuilt itself, ruled the Mojave wasteland for 15 years, or if a new Legion has formed. An important part of the Legion seems to be a new character in the series, portrayed by Macaulay Culkin.
However, the series does not necessarily have to address the events of the game; it could also diverge and create an alternative version of the Legion. Another highlight in the 2nd season of Fallout will likely be the Deathclaw: One of the strongest creatures in Fallout Season 2 existed before the apocalypse and was supposed to replace human soldiers
