Anyone who pre-ordered Fallout 76 for PlayStation 4 or PC can test the game in the beta soon. The first phase of the beta for PC and PS4 may start earlier than expected. But players need to hurry.
The first phase begins: On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at 11:50 PM the beta for Fallout 76 on PC and PS4 started. You can log in and play from now on.
Update: The beta is now live! You can start immediately if you’ve downloaded the game.
Important additional info: After the game has been downloaded a second time, it can be started, but logging into the game itself gives an error. Bethesda advises not to press any buttons in the launcher but to let the download run if it has started for you.
Original report: Start of the beta for PC and PS4 delayed, issues with the Bethesda launcher
Update: The timer in the Bethesda.net launcher has expired, but players receive various error messages when they try to start the game:
- Error contacting servers.
- Game server is offline.
- Fallout 76 failed to download due to an error on the server. Please try again.
In some cases, the launcher asks for an installation directory and shows a required disk space of about 50GB. In some cases, this download may even start already.
Bethesda itself has already commented on the event. On Twitter, it is stated that the beta will start as planned at midnight German time.
PC #Fallout76 B.E.T.A. players: The event will start by 7pm ET on Tuesday, October 30 as announced. The timer will run down about two hours before the B.E.T.A. event is scheduled to begin. https://t.co/ZtLcP0A6jX pic.twitter.com/Sqd7WKdipa

Additionally, there is currently an issue with the Bethesda.net launcher, according to Bethesda. The support is working on the problem and asks you not to click any buttons during this time.
PC #Fallout76 B.E.T.A. players: We are aware of an issue with the client and are investigating. Do not click any buttons on the client for the time being.

After the game is downloaded again due to the error, it is possible to start Fallout 76. However, this is likely a bug, and it is also not possible to log into the game itself.
If the download has also started for you, you should still let it run to the end.
PC #Fallout76 B.E.T.A. players: We are investigating an issue affecting B.E.T.A. preloads in the https://t.co/spj7OhagQy Launcher: If you are actively downloading the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A., or have a visible progress bar, please allow the download to complete.

Fallout 76 Beta for PC and PS4 – What you need to know
The beta is a test: When you play the beta, you should keep in mind that this is not a finished game. Bethesda wants to test and improve certain things with your help, and you are even encouraged to break the game.
The beta includes the full game, and you can play it in full, even if there may still be bugs. Any progress you make during the beta can be transferred to the game once it is released on November 14.
You can also stream all the content of the game and share screenshots from it. By testing, you do not submit a confidentiality agreement (NDA).
You can’t always play: The first test of the beta for PC and PS4 lasts 4 hours according to the original report. However, it should take place from 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM.
Whether the beta now ends only at 2:00 AM or remains until 4:00 AM because of the earlier start remains to be seen. But you should prepare for an end at 2:00 AM. As soon as there is new information, we will update it here.
Once this phase ends, there will be further phases in which you can play the beta. The corresponding times can be found in our post.
