In the Big Alpha of Evolve, there was little story, just the hunters exchanged a few one-liners as they were about to jump. But why even have a story? 4 people in a jungle hunting a gigantic monster, who needs background knowledge? Who needs to ask: “What is actually your motivation?” It’s enough when the Commander grunts: “Our prey is two stories high, heavily armed, and really ugly!”
The trailer for Evolve now fills in a few gaps with Hollywood bombast visuals and catchy quotes that lie somewhere between Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay. It has a bit of the 80s Predator vibe, but it simply works. Have fun with the trailer.
