Everything you need to know about the new battle event in Pokémon GO

In Pokémon GO a new battle event has started. In addition to numerous bonuses, Shiny Mankey and Shiny Machop can also be caught for the first time.

This is the battle event: Since yesterday evening, March 5th at 10 PM, this event revolving around battle Pokémon has been running. You can find Fighting-type Pokémon everywhere in the wild. Additionally, there are more bonuses related to battles in gyms and PvP.

The event lasts: You have a week to take advantage of the event. The battle showdown ends on March 12th at 9 PM.

These are the bonuses from the event – Shiny Mankey and Machop

This is what you get: The battle event brings you numerous bonuses. It is mainly about fighting, which is rewarded more.

• Double Stardust for catching, battling, and raids
• Double XP for gym badges
• You can receive up to 5 rewards from battles against friends
• Instead of one reward, you get up to 3 rewards from battles against team leaders

These Shinies are new: There are also two new Shiny forms in the game. Now you can catch Machop and Mankey as shiny Pokémon.

In addition to these two Shinies, you can also find Makuhita and Meditite more frequently in the wild. These two Pokémon can also be shiny.

There is a new move: In line with the battle event, there is also a new Fighting-type move to learn. This move stays permanently in the game. Some Pokémon can now learn Counter. These include:

• Quappo
• Nockchan
• Kangaskhan
• Medicham
• Lucario

These are the 5 new field researches – Quests for the battle event

Along with the event start, there are also 5 new field researches that you need to solve. These quests have already been found in the code by Dataminer Chrales.

• Catch 5 Fighting-type Pokémon
  • Reward: Encounter with a Machoke
• Catch 3 Makuhita or Meditite
  • Reward: Encounter with a Torchic
• Land 2 great throws in a row
  • Reward: Encounter with a Hitmonchan
• Win 3 raids
  • Reward: An Elite TM
• Use a very effective charged move in 7 raids or gym battles
  • Reward: A charged TM

These quests are still worth it: From the current field researches in March, there are also 2 quests that are particularly worthwhile for the current event:

• Battle in a gym
  • Reward: Encounter with a Mankey or Machop
• Battle 5 times in a gym
  • Reward: Encounter with a Machop

From these two quests, you can also obtain the shiny form of the Pokémon.
