So far, the action MMO Lost Ark (PC) is only available in beta in South Korea. However, some of the numerous endgame contents are already known.
Lost Ark is a beautiful and action-packed MMO from South Korea that has been making waves since 2014. The game aims to combine dynamic action RPG gameplay like Diablo with the mechanics and open world of an MMO. But can the action MMO convince in the endgame?
In the meantime, there have been several beta phases in South Korea where the endgame was explored.
Dungeons, endless towers, and monster-hunter bosses!
The player and author Steparu has shared his experiences from the endgame content of the beta on the website of the same name. According to him, there is tons of content for the endgame, including endless towers full of loot and monsters, hidden dungeons, instances where your loot levels up, and even a “monster-hunter mode”.
In it, you receive epic and sometimes legendary items that significantly boost your combat power. Also great: You can trade your loot with other players, and each player has their own loot chest. So there’s no need to fight over loot. We will now introduce you to the individual endgame contents.
Field and world bosses – Long wait, great loot!
In the open world of Lost Ark, you will frequently encounter particularly tough monsters. These are world or field bosses.
A world boss is a fearsome beast that appears only rarely. You have to wait 4 or more hours for such a monster.
You can only defeat these bosses with large groups, as they hit extremely hard and can take down players in droves. However, they drop tokens that you can trade for legendary items of your choice.
A field boss, on the other hand, is less strong, spawns more often, and drops “only” epic items.
Guardian Raid – The monster-hunter mode!
One of the most promising endgame game modes is the Guardian Raid. It involves hunting and taking down a particularly strong monster in an instance. Like in Monster Hunter, you have to find the beast first and split up to do so.
Once the monster is tracked down, you must be careful. Because you cannot use potions and can only heal at the campfire between combat phases. Even worse: Depending on the difficulty level, you have a limited number of lives.
If all lives are used up, the raid has failed, even if there are still players from the group alive. In the hardest difficulty, there are only three extra lives. If you make one mistake too many, you can wipe the raid!
Hidden Dungeon Scrolls – Bonus dungeons with super loot
If you prefer just to casually grab some loot, you should try the Hidden Dungeons. These instances are quite simple but offer good loot. The dungeons are a kind of bonus instance.
You may only enter these dungeons if you have special Hidden Dungeon Scrolls. These, in turn, can be looted from other challenges, such as the Guardian Raid or the Cube Dungeons.
Cinematic endgame dungeons – A break from the grind
The cinematic dungeons might not bring the best loot in the endgame, according to Steparu, but they look fantastic. This allows you to take a small break from the harsh grind and enjoy the engagingly staged instances.
In this, you are pursued by a gigantic monster in the tomb of King Luteran. You climb level by level of a structure, and the beast attacks you repeatedly.
The endless Tower of Infinity
The Tower of Infinity is another useful endgame activity in Lost Ark. This tower lives up to its name and seemingly has endless challenges for you. On each level, you must slay monsters and complete special tasks.
The higher you climb the tower, the better the loot. On the upper levels, mighty legendary items await!
Cube Dungeons – All or nothing!
Cube Dungeons are particularly enticing but can also drive players insane with frustration. You have a small instance in front of you that you tackle with 4 players. You receive a small loot box that initially contains nothing special.
However, with each cleared room and each defeated boss in the dungeon, the box gains experience points and levels up up to 5 times. This increases the loot, and in the end, you may draw legendary items or the best scrolls for hidden dungeons from the box. It sounds pretty cool, but keep in mind that you lose EVERYTHING if you die in the dungeon.
Also nasty: Each room gives you a randomly determined buff or debuff. So, it may happen that you are faster or constantly lose health.
The PvP arena also brings great loot
For those less inclined toward nice PvE and who prefer to beat up other players, the PvP arena also offers substantial rewards. Players who grind PvP hard can also unlock extremely powerful legendary items at higher levels (in the beta, it was level 20).
So there’s something to do for every type of player in the endgame of Lost Ark. When and whether the game will be released in Europe and the USA is still unknown.
