In the SF-MMO EVE Online, one of the largest wars among players is brewing. Developer CCP is rubbing its hands: The player numbers are rising.
We recently reported that a pack of hungry wolves is gathering in EVE to hunt the mammoth. The largest war in years is coming to EVE Online.
The “Imperium”, the last superpower in EVE, has been considered untouchable for years. Now it finds itself facing a multitude of opponents who are opening various fronts, nibbling at the giant’s territory.
Developer CCP views this with delight. In a Dev Blog, they describe the multi-hour battle at 1P-VL2 as the second-largest fight in the history of EVE Online ever. 5806 pilots are said to have participated.

“And the best part is, that was just one of the first battles in the new Great War of EVE,” they exclaim. CCP looks forward to months of conflicts and even bloodier battles.
The alliances noticed a number of new players and old friends were returning to participate in the largest war in years in the history of EVE, it is said. In Iceland, where the developers are located, they seem to be gleefully rubbing their hands: War is clearly good for business.
EVE has been accused in recent years of having too rigid power dynamics, causing the game to stagnate.
