The well-known company IKEA conducted a study. It found that people are happier when they tidy up. This leads to a better feeling and well-being.
What kind of study is this? IKEA, in collaboration with the General Council of Psychology and the Psychofoundation, conducted a study on human well-being. This is reported by the site Jeuxvideo.com. The results are regularly shared in the podcast “Hogares con Psicología.”
In the study, it was found that 21% of the surveyed people feel frustrated when they have objects at home without a designated place, although the influence of order varies in strength for each individual.
At the same time, it was discovered that people become happier when they bring order to their homes. Because this also brings their minds into order.
IKEA recently also stated that gamers should definitely not get married:
Order boosts self-esteem, chaos causes stress
Why is order a good thing? Those who tidy up and have a clean, organized environment feel like they have control over their surroundings. This can not only boost self-esteem but also create a more pleasant atmosphere.
The study states that more cleanliness in the house is associated with more well-being and happiness and that this can be achieved by tidying up the kitchen daily, organizing, and making the beds. Psychologist Dr. Danielle Roeske explained that order is directly related to mental health:
If there is order and structure in our outer environment, it can help us feel better able to deal with some of our emotional states and inner worlds.
Disorder can have the opposite effect: A chaotic environment can lead to feelings of overwhelm. Furthermore, another study has shown that individuals living in a chaotic, cluttered environment have higher cortisol levels and therefore experience more stress.
Tidying up helps with happiness. And of course, it helps IKEA if you buy cabinets from the Swedish furniture company for your organizing needs. Because all the stuff that is otherwise scattered chaotically in your living room can just as well be stored in a stylish cabinet.
By the way, IKEA discovered the topic of “gaming” a few years ago. Together with the company ASUS, it introduced its first gaming products. The furniture was developed in collaboration with ASUS, and now all gaming products can also be purchased in Germany: Yes, IKEA now also makes gaming furniture – now with official images.
