ESO Morrowind: Locations of the Ancestor Tombs & Lost Library

Here you can see all locations of the Ancestor Shrines in The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind. In ESO there are some lengthy quest lines, at the end of which you will find achievements, titles, and housing accessories. One of them is “The Lost Library,” which you only receive when you have found 30 Ancestor Shrines throughout Vvardenfell. 

The Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind leads you to Vvardenfell, the mysterious Dark Elf island. There, the dark eared worship a dark ancestor cult, which is also the key to a particularly long, but also fruitful quest line.

How to become the “Hunter of the Ancestor Shrines” and find the “Lost Library” is explained in the following paragraphs.

The Elder Scrolls Online – Morrowind – Quest Map – This is how you become the “Hunter of the Ancestor Shrines”

The quest “the Ancestor Shrines” is needed to start the search. You receive the task from Librarian Bradyn in Vivec. After that, he will send you to a tomb nearby. However, he wants you to also find the remaining 29 Ancestor Shrines on the island and take rubbings of the inscriptions from each of them.

Morrowind – The Path to the Lost Library and the Solution to the Ancestor Puzzles

Once you have taken rubbings of all 30 Ancestor Shrines and submitted them to the Librarian, you will receive the achievement “Hunter of the Ancestor Shrines” and the title “Librarian”. After that, the Librarian in Vivec will give you a new quest: You are to find the Lost Library.

You will find it north of the Way Shrine “Nchuleftingth.” In the library, you will finally encounter tiles with Daedric symbols. Remember these symbols, as later you will need to light two torches and the path through the room must proceed over the three depicted plates.

Once you have also mastered this hurdle, you will encounter ancestor spirits deeper in the library. From these, you will need the respective genealogies of the great houses of the Dark Elves. In order for them to give you this information, you must answer three questions each. The answers are in the previously found books, but if you do not feel like researching, you can also just answer the questions directly. Here are the solutions:

Once you have received all genealogies, return to the quest giver in Vivec and besides a handsome reward, you will also receive a beautiful miniature model of the whole island that you can place in your homes.
