The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind takes you to the island of Vvardenfell. There live different creatures and beings than in the rest of Tamriel. In a blog post from ZeniMax, you can admire the most extreme beasts.
Those who played The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind back then surely remember well the strange plants and animals on the Dark Elf island of Vvardenfell. Because there, humid swamps alternate with barren ash deserts and bizarre mushroom forests. In some of the caves, moon sugar even thrives, giving you the opportunity later to become a Skooma drug boss. Likewise curious are the creatures one encounters there, including the giant mudcrabs or the extremely hated cliff racers.
Morrowind Fauna – The Return of the Pests
Those cliff racers are unfortunately also encountered in the upcoming Morrowind Stand-Alone Addon for The Elder Scrolls Online. Although it was learned in Skyrim that the tormentors were all wiped out in between.
But ESO unfortunately takes place before Skyrim and therefore the nerve beasts still live in large numbers on the island. You can even unleash them as battle creatures on your enemies when you play the new Warden class.
The Creatures of Morrowind – Cute Beasts
Less dire is the cute mushroom beetle, which is exactly what it is: a beetle on which mushrooms grow. Mushrooms thrive particularly well on the fertile volcanic ash of Vvardenfell and beetles provide the ideal habitat for certain mushrooms.
Equally cute is the adorable Vvardvark, which prefers the lush meadows and grasslands of the island. The creature looks like a mix of a kangaroo, an anteater, and an armadillo. Although the beasts are said to stink horribly, some Dark Elves keep them as pets. Therefore, they will surely soon be available as pets in the game.
The Horror from the Tomb
However, those who leave the magnificent landscapes of Vvardenfell behind and descend into dark caves might encounter a “Hunger.” These are gruesome Daedra monsters that strike particularly hard with their long thorn-covered tongues.
So much for the most curious creatures of Vvardenfell. On the ZeniMax page (link in the source note), there are more pictures and texts on the subject, written by the Telvanni naturalist Tilenra Sildreth.
