In the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online, the event “The Gifts of Darkforest” is currently happening. In this event, the entire community works together to unlock rewards for all players. The special thing this time is that the new DLC Deadlands is being given away if everyone reaches the common goal.
What kind of event is this? The Gifts of Darkforest runs from September 30 at 4:00 PM to October 12 at 4:00 PM. Your task is to explore the new area Darkforest, which was released with the Blackwood expansion.
For each character that completes the Pathfinder achievement, the event progress moves forward just a little bit.
What are the rewards?
- If the event reaches 33%, all players will receive the Plum Swamp Jelly as a pet
- At 66%, all players will receive the Shadow Paint of Darkforest
- At 100%, all players will receive the new DLC Deadlands for free, provided you own the Blackwood expansion
The last reward is mainly worthwhile for players who do not use ESO+. However, you unlock the DLC permanently, which would otherwise cost 2,000 crowns – about 12 to 15 euros. If you want to cancel ESO+ then, you will still benefit from the event reward.
The Pathfinder of Darkforest is a simple achievement, so you should complete it more often
How do you achieve the Pathfinder achievement? To make progress in the event, you need to complete the Pathfinder of Darkforest. For that, you just need to visit 6 notable locations on the map that are marked with an “Eye symbol”.
Walking to the points takes only a few minutes.

Can the Pathfinder be completed multiple times? Yes, you can complete the Pathfinder with each character and thus advance the event. Since you can theoretically start directly in Darkforest with any new character after the tutorial, you can contribute a lot of progress to the event.
Event already at over 30%, but appearances can be deceiving
How is the event progressing so far? After just about 36 hours, players have already achieved over 30% progress in the event. But appearances can be deceiving.
Because right from the start, all characters that have completed the achievement since the release of Blackwood were retrospectively included. And that will have been quite a number of players.
So if you are interested in the rewards and want to get the DLC for free, you should keep an eye on the progress and – if necessary – complete the Pathfinder achievement a few more times.
What else does the event bring? In addition to the great community progress, you will also receive the Cassettes of the Legates of Darkforest for every daily quest you complete during the event period. The first cassette of each brings an increased chance of rare rewards.
Included are among other things:
- Crafting materials
- Valuables that you can sell for gold at merchants
- Style materials for styles from Darkforest
- Equipment from Darkforest
- A fragment of Voriplasm as a pet
- Furnishing items and blueprints from Darkforest
You can also earn more cassettes from dungeons, through portals to the realm of oblivion and from treasure chests.
Additionally, there are event tickets that you can earn.
