The Elder Scrolls Online delights its fans once again with a bug. This time, a player was transformed into a cute dog after trying to collect an item. Unlike other bugs of this kind, the transformation seemed to last longer this time.
What happened? The ESO player and reddit user WedeAntill3s was quite surprised when he wanted to farm some Skyshards in ESO recently. As soon as he picked up one of the useful items, his character was turned into a dog. A kind of pug in a blue outfit, to be precise.
To his astonishment, the new form persisted, and he could not transform back. Instead, he was able to run through the instance as a dog and even beat up enemies. Even after restarting the game, the canine form remained.
In the end, the player had probably already come to terms with his fate as a Doggo when the dog fun abruptly ended when WedeAntill3s found another Skyshard. By consuming it, he was transformed back into his original form.
On reddit, the player then posted proof pictures along with the question “Is this normal?”
Players also want to be all dogs and celebrate the bug
How did the dog transformation go down? As with the “Lootbox Mount Bug” and the “Horse Run Bug“, the “Dog Skyshard Bug” is also heavily celebrated by the fans. On June 25, 2021, the reddit thread received over 1,300 upvotes and more than 100 comments. It was filled with cool one-liners and requests on how to reproduce the bug:
- Shadylat: “This isn’t a bug, it’s a pug.”
- Oliumzen: “I can’t believe it?!? Pugs in our homeland!” [Reference to the most annoying saying in ESO.]
- NoliaButtercup: “I would never pick up a Skyshard again if I could be a dog forever”
- XTRMMINEST: “That happened to me too, and I became a griffon. That was damn funny!”
Curiously, WedeAntill3s couldn’t quite enjoy being a dog:
Mei, I’m more of a cat person – and then it had to be the Daggerfall Covenant dog … let’s just say I’m not the biggest fan of them.
Maybe he would have had more fun if he had experienced the cat bug instead. That transforms players into cats (or other pets) and is quite easy to replicate. You can find out how that works here on MeinMMO in our article about the Cat Bug in ESO.
