Currently, a bug on Steam is causing frustration, as Battlefield 6 is displayed as “not released” for some players. We have summarized some tips for you on how to solve the problem.
What kind of problem is this? Since the release of Battlefield 6, some PC players on Steam have reported the error message “Game not released”. However, Battlefield 6 was already released on October 10 at 5 PM – and over 700,000 players were already in the game.
On Reddit, users report that even restarting Steam or redownloading the game did not help, and the message still appears.
The developers announced early this morning around 6 AM (CEST) on the official Discord and on X with a small workaround while they continue to work on a solution.
Fix “Game not released” error on Steam
Here’s how to solve the problem on Steam:
- Open your library on Steam and right-click on Battlefield 6.
- Select “Properties” at the bottom.
- Click on “DLC” on the left.
- Uncheck the boxes for:
- “Battlefield-Multiplayer-HD-Marker”
- “Battlefield-Multiplayer-Marker”.
In the comments on X, some users also recommend clearing the download cache of Steam under “Settings – Downloads – Clear Cache”. Alternatively, it might help to completely exit Steam via the Task Manager and then restart it.
One user adds on X: “I had the same problem and was able to fix it like this: Open the NVIDIA app, go to Graphics, find Battlefield 6, click on it, and go to Global Settings. There, click on “Restore” under Driver Settings. Then restart Steam and start the game again.”
