For Honor – Fighting Game Meets MOBA
For Honor is Ubisoft’s long-awaited multiplayer action game that lets you engage in fast-paced duels between knights, samurai, and vikings. For Honor officially launches on February 14 for PC and consoles. If you are not sure whether For Honor is to your liking, you can check out the brutal fighting from February 9 to February 12 in the open beta for free.
There is always war!
What is For Honor actually about? Basically just about fighting! In a curious alternate world, honorable samurai, wild vikings, and valiant knights are all stranded together and have been spending years bashing each other’s armored heads in. For Honor clearly focuses on multiplayer. There is also a single-player mode, but no co-op.
In the multiplayer modes, For Honor really ramps up. Those who want to focus solely on their skills as warriors can choose the 1vs1 duel mode. Team players fight in the 2vs2 mode against a rival team, and MOBA fans crash into the 4VS4 domination mode. In it, you fight for strategic zones on the map by protecting your minions and slaughtering the heroes and minions of the opposing side.
Axe, Two-Hander, or Naginata?
In For Honor, you select your hero each round from 12 warriors. These are unique in their choice of weapons and armor and behave accordingly differently. The well-armored Warden with his two-handed sword is a versatile fighter, while the hefty Conqueror, with his shield, is particularly effective in defense.
The agile Berserker cares little for armor and prefers to attack from the flank, where he deals quickly with careless enemies using his two axes. The lightly armored Nobushi from the Samurai, in turn, wields a versatile Naginata-sword lance, delivering deadly strikes from a distance.
Optimal for Gamepads
The combat system of For Honor is complex and reminiscent of fighting games like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. You can deal heavy and light blows, block in three different directions, and even perform special moves and combos. With special attacks, you break through defenses, and those who are skilled can even push the enemy to their death from the battlements with a well-placed shove.

The controls work best with gamepads, which PC players should also keep in mind. Also cool: For Honor features a meta-campaign, where your chosen faction wins land through your victories and rewards for the winners are distributed at the end. You use this to buy new equipment for your heroes, which you can customize in various ways.
Exciting battles also await you on page four with Guild Wars 2 and the fourth episode of Season Three.
