In the space online game Elite Dangerous, players have found the answer to a riddle that surfaced with the official novel after three years.
The novel Elite Reclamation by author Drew Wagar raised the question of what the mysterious Formidine Rift has to do with it. In the novel, a woman named Rebecca talks about it, but due to a wiped memory, she can no longer remember what it’s about. It was clear that the players of Elite Dangerous wanted to find out what it was all about.
What is the Formidine Rift?
In the game, the group called The Children of Raxxla followed every vague clue and has now discovered the wreck of a gigantic ship. The Zurara floats in space, and there is no life on board.
However, the audio logs that are still stored in the computers feature Rebecca’s voice. She was on the ship, which connects it to the Formidine Rift. The audio logs reveal that a consciousness-altering substance was experimented with on board, which transformed the crew into insane killers. Apparently, some organization is behind it, but aliens cannot be ruled out either.
The answer brings new questions
By the way, the questions could only now be answered as the megaships, of which the Zurara is a part, were only introduced with a recent update.
Further clues to this mystery are expected from the upcoming novel Elite Premonition by Drew Wagar. This book will also feature actions in which the players of the space online game have participated. The novel is set to be released later this year.
