In Elite: Dangerous, developers have hidden artifacts and secrets in the vast game world. One artifact has now been found, presenting players with a puzzle.
According to PC Gamer, players in the space simulation Elite: Dangerous have followed the announcements and hints from producer Michael Brooks and have been on the lookout for artifacts in the game. According to the developers, since patch 1.2, “non-celestial things” are out there somewhere. One of these artifacts has now been recovered, but it does not provide answers; instead, it raises new puzzles:
A player has recorded the sound of the artifact, and when sped up, it sounds something like this:
No one really understands it yet. The prevailing theory is that it has something to do with the insectoid “Thargoids,” an alien race that appeared in earlier Elite games. Dev diaries also referenced them in Elite: Dangerous.
Tricky, isn’t it? In movies, solving puzzles always seems so easy. But no one ever claimed that being a science officer in space is simple.
