The space MMO Elite Dangerous receives new content with Chapter 3 of the major Beyond update. This includes a fighter that looks like a new TIE fighter from Star Wars and new weapons against the aliens.
The next chapter of the major Beyond update: Beyond is the major update cycle of Elite, which is supposed to bring a lot of new content to the game. It concerns the conflict with the mysterious aliens from the Thargoid race.
To deal with the aggressive insectoids, there is a plethora of new toys with Beyond: Chapter 3:
- The new ship “Crusader”: It resembles the Chieftain but has fighter capacity
- The new space fighters with “Guardian Tech”: Trident XD7 (Plasma Repeater), Javelin XG8 (Shard Cannon), and Lance XG9 (Gauss Cannon). The special thing about the new fighters is that they not only deal a lot of damage but also look like experimental TIE Fighters (more specifically, the TIE Phantom from the classic Rebel Assault 2) from Star Wars.
- New weapons, such as the large unguided rocket, the large guided missile, and a turret version of the large Multi Cannon.
New engineers for technical superiority
How do you get the new technology? To get all these goodies outside the core worlds, you need to get along well with the engineers in the remote Colonia system. There you can buy just as good technology as in civilization.
Alien tech against the other aliens
At the “Guardian Tech Brokers”, you can acquire the new ships and weapons if you first find the coordinates for Guardian planets in Guardian Space Beacons. Guardian technology can be particularly effective against the Thargoids.
If you want goodies like plasma launchers, shard cannons, or gauss cannons, you need to diligently explore the Guardian planets.
Thargoids will adapt: Of course, your technical superiority won’t last long. As usual in Elite, the Thargoids will surely catch up in the arms race and once again deploy superior technology.
Therefore, the much larger announced fourth chapter of Beyond promises a lot of action. But until then, you can have fun with the new toys from Chapter 3.
