The new cooperative shooter Earthfall has now been released and sends you on an alien hunt in the northwest of the post-apocalyptic USA on Xbox One and PC. However, there are issues with the PS4 release in Europe.
The developer Holospark released the cooperative alien shooter Earthfall for PS4, Xbox One and PC on July 13, 2018. However, there appear to be issues with the release of the PS4 version in the EU. Apparently, the Earthfall PS4 release has been postponed at short notice.
Earthfall sends you on an alien hunt, but not yet on PS4
Earthfall PS4 release in the EU is delayed: On July 13, 2018, Earthfall was released for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Earthfall was supposed to be released simultaneously for PS4, Xbox One and PC everywhere, but so far the shooter has only been released on PC (Steam) and Xbox One in the EU. Earthfall is still awaited on PS4 – at least in Europe. In the USA, the game is already available in the PSN Store.
New PS4 release date unclear: There appear to be unforeseen problems with the EU release and the developers are working on a solution. This was at least suggested by a tweet from Holospark, which has since been deleted. When exactly the cooperative shooter will be released for PS4 in our region is still not entirely clear. According to some fans, Holospark hinted at July 18 as the new Earthfall PS4 release date on Twitter. However, that tweet can no longer be found.
Earthfall – Left4Dead with Aliens
What is Earthfall? Earthfall is a cooperative shooter in the style of Left4Dead. After an early access phase on Steam, the shooter from developer Holospark was officially released as a finished game on July 13, 2018.
What is it about? In short – it’s about shooting together. The story is kept very superficial and only outlines the essentials: The end of the world is near. After a meteorite impact, aliens devastate our Earth. The surviving humans in the northwest of the USA band together to fight off the alien invaders with all sorts of equipment.
What’s included? In a 4-player team, you play as one of four fixed characters alongside up to three friends for peace and freedom. If no online teammates are available, the game provides AI companions.
Now it’s time to extinguish the aliens’ lights in cities and wilderness. You have to complete different tasks across two campaigns and eleven missions in various scenarios while blasting your way through the alien hordes to the final boss.
You’ll use a powerful arsenal of weapons, set up defenses, deploy manned or automated turrets, use portable barricade kits, and set traps with them. You can also print new weapons and supplies with a 3D printer. Various firearms can still be found in the individual levels.
By the way: The developers announced that they will regularly update the game post-release with new missions, modes, and weapons.
Earthfall offers the following multiplayer elements: While Earthfall can certainly be played solo, the game is clearly designed for cooperative multiplayer. Up to four players can hunt aliens together online.
Through “drop-in/drop-out” multiplayer, you can join multiplayer sessions, leave them, start solo, and then bring in friends for support – the game imposes no boundaries. AI bots always fill in for missing human players.
Earthfall is ideal for anyone who enjoyed the Left4Dead series. Many fans say: Earthfall looks like Left4Dead with aliens, feels like Left4Dead with aliens, and plays like Left4Dead with aliens. The developers are also quite open about having taken inspiration from the competition.
