In the EA FC community, heated words after an online match are not uncommon. However, a player on Reddit shows that one can also respond differently – with respect, calmness, and an unexpectedly good ending.
What happened? A 35-year-old player shared on Reddit a chat conversation that took place after a heated FUT Champions match in EA FC 26. The experienced EA FC gamer, who has had the controller in hand since FIFA 99, lost to an apparently 16-year-old player – a game that triggered a direct provocation from the teenager in the chat:
- Teenager:
Ezz. 1,300 hours on FIFA 15? How did you lose to a 16-year-old?
- Gamer ahanssen:
GG! Yeah, I’m already quite old and my reaction time is declining, lol. Work, kids, and so on, not much time left for FC. I thought you would finish me off after the first half. Good luck with your remaining games.
- Teenager: “God bless you and your family. Sorry for being so toxic.”
Instead of reacting with frustration or even addressing the toxic message at all, the older player remained friendly and calm. A prime example of how to respond to such messages and even elicit a sincere apology from a toxic opponent.

Why is the post causing a stir? Instead of engaging with provocations, the 35-year-old chose the path of kindness – and managed to completely turn the situation around. In his Reddit post, ahanssen also encourages other players to follow his example: This is how I deal with toxic messages. A pretty fulfilling moment. Highly recommended

And what do other EA FC players say about it? Under the post, hundreds of comments accumulate, not only joking about the teenager’s toxic message but also sharing their own experiences of this kind.
Reddit user CollierAM9 commented, for example, that someone wrote to him after a defeat that they knew where he lived. He dryly replied, “I’m already boiling some water.”
However, a reaction doesn’t always have to be understanding, as another gamer shared in the Reddit feed:
I did something similar about a year ago. I won, but the guy sent me a message telling me how bad I was, blah blah blah. I told him that my reactions aren’t what they used to be and that due to my poor health I simply can’t keep up as well anymore, to which he replied: “Hopefully, your health deteriorates even more.” I didn’t take it to heart or anything. But it made me laugh, because he must have been really mad.

Another Reddit user reports that he himself was such a toxic
teenager, but such a measured response made him rethink. Since then, he never trash talks

Looking at the interaction and the reactions, the FUT Champions game has unusually produced two winners. If you want to know with which surprisingly inexpensive player you can not only dominate the chat, then click here: EA FC 26: A card for 70,000 coins can keep up with any meta team
