EA FC 25 is now officially released. But in addition to the modern current-gen consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series S and X, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch are also being served. But what are the differences?
After the FIFA series consistently received a toned-down “Legacy” version on the Nintendo Switch in its last years, which was identical to previous years and only adjusted the rosters, this changed last year with the release of EA FC 24.
While the Switch version of FC 24 did not receive all the new features, it did represent a significant improvement over its predecessor FIFA 23. This was mainly due to the switch to the Frostbite engine.

EA FC 25 for Switch and PS4 – The Differences to Current Gen
This is how it looks with the Switch version: Like last year, the Switch version of EA FC 25 has received more love than in previous FIFA years. The modes are identical to the PlayStation 5 version. Thus, even the new Rush mode makes it to the Switch, Ultimate Team returns, and FC IQ includes all its tactical innovations.
What is missing, however, is:
- HyperMotion technology that makes gameplay more realistic through numerous animations
- Modern graphics
- 60 FPS mode
- Cutscenes in career mode
However, despite the absence of some features in the Switch version, it also has a few unique functions. These include:
- Zooming during gameplay with the touchscreen
- Joy-Con support, allowing you to play locally against each other with 2 Joy-Cons
- Local multiplayer via the Switch’s internal WiFi with a second Switch console
All in all, one can say that the Switch version of FC 25 has quite a lot to offer. Especially considering that the console hasn’t exactly provided the latest technology in the last 7 years. Content-wise, you hardly have to make compromises. Only in terms of gameplay and graphics, the Switch version is not up-to-date.
This is how it looks with the PS4 version: The PS4 and Xbox One versions of EA FC 25 do not differ in content from the modern versions on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. The game modes are identical, and here too, both the Rush mode and FC IQ have made it into the game.
However, compromises are definitely necessary. Because especially in graphics, PS5 and Xbox Series have more to offer. Furthermore, there is still no trace of the HyperMotion technology, which is only available to admire on PS5 and Xbox Series.
