The new event in FC 24 Ultimate Team has not been convincing so far. In addition to the high prices of the special cards, there is another problem that the promo is experiencing a stutter.
This is the situation:
- On Friday, February 23, the first team of the new promo “FC Fantasy” was released. A total of 17 players who are currently still active can since then be drawn from packs along with additional released hero cards.
- The special versions of this event are live cards/dynamic cards, meaning they can further improve. In this case, the upgrades (max four) are tied to the performance of the real counterpart as well as the corresponding team in the next league matches.
- However, EA Sports has not shown a good hand when selecting, as some of the players cannot stand on the pitch at all right now and therefore cannot reach their potential.

Here lies the problem: Two of the four possible upgrades are closely linked to the respective player.
On one hand, he receives a “+1 Inform upgrade” if he plays in three of the next four league matches after the promo starts. On the other hand, depending on his position, he must either score a goal/provide an assist (midfield + attack) or remain without conceding a goal (goalkeeper + defender).
These requirements can, of course, only be fulfilled if the player is actually on the pitch.
Unfortunately, some of the highlight cards are currently suffering from an injury. Griezmann, Marquinhos, and Grealish missed the first match, while Calhanoglu has already missed two.
The same goes for Acuna, who found his way into Ultimate Team during the mini-release last Sunday. To make matters worse, De Ligt has also gotten a suspension, meaning the Bayern professional must also sit out a match.
Further weaknesses of the promo: Since the cards are dynamic, the best FC Fantasy professionals cost incredibly many coins, which the average UT player cannot afford. They are therefore unreachable.
Furthermore, the event does not seem well thought out. With Nerea Eizagirre (Objective) as well as Lisa Karl and Sandra Starke, there are three women whose next league match will not take place for another two weeks (March 10/11) – after the end of the promo. For Hemp, Majri, and Konate, the event also only begins in March due to their schedule.
While they can still receive their upgrades, this could drag into April, which represents a very long time span for the fast-paced Ultimate Team mode.
