In Dune: Awakening, players return to Arrakis with the update. But those logging in today face the question: Where is my base? We explain what has happened to your base.
What is happening in Dune: Awakening? Many players are currently returning to Arrakis in Dune: Awakening. The new update Chapter 2 attracts players with free and paid content. Alongside several new players coming through the Free Weekend, it seems that most of the players are veterans returning after a break.
However, those logging back in after a break face a problem: Their base is no longer where it was, and the resources are gone.

Trouble with the lost base
What has happened to the base? To maintain a base in Dune: Awakening, fuel must be regularly replenished and taxes paid. If this is neglected, the base will eventually lose its shields before gradually being destroyed by sandstorms.
After about 3 weeks, other players can take ownership of the base and loot all resources. This is a huge annoyance for returnees. What many players experience today, other returnees experienced back in summer after a break.
How was the return? In a report, Reddit user Neauellski describes his return. He logged back into the game after a long break about a month ago and discovered that his base along with resources and vehicles was gone.
He describes the moment as terrible: “Honestly, I am devastated, and my motivation to keep playing is completely gone. Also, because without a base, you can’t really play the game.”
Without a base, there is only the inventory left—and one must struggle to fight back. Those lucky enough find a guild or group on the server can join. However, most players have to start over from scratch.
How to prevent loss? If you want to avoid losing your base, you must log in every 2 weeks, refill fuel into the machines, and check your base for damage. Once that is done, a trip to Arakeen or Harko Village is also necessary to pay the taxes for the base.
To pay taxes, however, you also need enough Solari, which you may have to farm first in research stations. So, the base in Dune: Awakening cannot be maintained without playing.
That many returnees today stand “naked” in the desert and have to start Dune: Awakening over from scratch diminishes the experience that the big “Chapter 2” update was supposed to deliver.
