The developers of Dune: Awakening have presented their roadmap for the upcoming DLCs and updates. At the same time, they admit a shortcoming, as the major endgame expansion will only come in 2026.
What did the developers say about the new roadmap? The developers of Dune: Awakening presented their roadmap on DuneAwakening.com. In it, they show the key changes that are set to be released by mid-2026. However, they also admit a shortcoming. Work on the upcoming update “Chapter 2” has already begun before the game was released.
This has meant that the update does not revolve around the endgame, as many players had hoped, or replace the Deep Desert as the endgame area. Major changes to the endgame area are only anticipated with Chapter 3, which is set to be released between January and March 2026.
Regarding the Deep Desert, they mention elsewhere in the post that they have “gained very different target audiences for the game, and these have very different wishes.” Therefore, with the new Chapter 2, there will be some minor changes to the Deep Desert, even though the main focus lies elsewhere.

What’s coming in the next update? The next major update for Dune: Awakening is divided into the free Chapter 2, which all purchasers of the base game will receive, and the paid DLC “Lost Harvest”.
Free will include the following content in Chapter 2:
- Main story continues
- Character editing after creation
- Dynamic encounters
- Contracts in the social hub
- New layouts for the Deep Desert
- New archetype armors
- New hairstyles and tattoos
Paid content included in the DLC “Lost Harvest” includes:
- New vehicle
- New quest chain with unique locations
- New building elements and decorations
- New armor and weapon skins
- New swatches and emotes
Furthermore, some long-awaited changes are set to come, including a log, a recovery system for vehicles, and the reduction of the weight of cobalt paste. Additionally, there will be a cargo container for the carrier ornithopter, instanced loot in the Deep Desert, and offline notifications for important matters like power outages in the base. In the latter reference, the developers also mention Ben.

What else are the developers planning? In their post on DuneAwakening.com, the developers have also discussed the future beyond Chapter 2. Starting from Chapter 3, which is set to be released between January and March 2026, the Landsraad will come more to the forefront and fulfill its role as an endgame system better.
Faction rank and Landsraad missions will also unlock additional quests from the respective faction, and Landsraad missions will generally function more like quests rather than hand-in missions.
The developers also have a whole series of ideas they want to implement. However, these are not yet in development, and players are invited to make their own suggestions for endgame activities.
That players have to wait until 2026 for the new endgame of Dune: Awakening can cause a lot of frustration. Especially if the Chapter 2 update cannot hold players’ attention for long. Already, it looks bad: Dune: Awakening is dropping to 53% positive reviews on Steam, mainly due to one issue
