In his latest livestream on YouTube, the streamer Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm threatened to sue former Twitch employee Cody Conners. He has now responded on X with a lot of mockery.
What is the backstory? In 2020, Twitch streamer DrDisrespect was banned on Twitch. The reason only came to light in 2024 through former Twitch employee Cody Connors: DrDisrespect allegedly exchanged inappropriate messages with a minor using the Twitch whisper feature.
A report in Rolling Stone followed with new information and other far-reaching consequences. After a kind of “vacation” that lasted only 74 days, he returned and lashed out against Twitch and their former employee Cody Conners.
Before it was known why DrDisrespect was banned from Twitch, many were wondering about the truth:
DrDisrespect threatens – Cody Conners mocks him
What allegations does DrDisrespect make? In his latest livestream on YouTube, DrDisrespect claimed that Conners did not receive the information firsthand and provocatively said: “Cody, why do that? What was the point? […] For what? […] You know nothing!” He also threatened legal action against the former Twitch employee.
How did Cody Conners respond? Cody Conners was not impressed. He made two posts that mocked the streamer’s threats. First, he posted a screenshot on X showing him asking ChatGPT: “What kind of lawyer do I need when I’m definitely not being sued?”
In the second post on X, Cody Conners asked: “Siri, when do I have to go to court if I don’t have to?”
These two posts are indirectly a confirmation that DrDisrespect has not followed through on his threats of legal action.
That DrDisrespect is not afraid to take the matter to court is evidenced by the lawsuit between him and Twitch. This was fought out in 2021 as the streamer claimed to have suffered financial and reputational consequences from the ban. Thus, there could still be a lawsuit from DrDisrespect.
When DrDisrespect was banned in 2020, the only surprising thing was that it was a permanent ban. The former Twitch streamer had already been involved in several controversies before. For example, he streamed while at E3 in 2019, including from the toilet, and was promptly punished by Twitch for it.
