With over 180 characters, the game naturally doesn’t aim to balance everything perfectly. Yamcha is simply weaker than Son Goku. To classify strength, each character is ranked in points. However, these rankings sometimes make no sense, at least in the Dragon Ball universe.

Some are stronger than they should be
What’s the problem? The characters in Sparking! Zero are divided into points. They range from 1 to 10. For example, 1 is Mister Satan and 10 is someone like Beerus. Within the gameplay, the classification is quite accurate. A 7 is stronger than a 4. However, some ratings make no sense within the lore of the series and movies.
For example, Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks is an 8. This is the version from the Buu saga. This places him on par with powerful characters like Toppo (God of Destruction), Jiren, or the blue god forms of Goku and Vegeta. Considering the difference between Dragon Ball Super and Z, this cannot be.
It gets even more bizarre when looking at the 5-point characters. There, powerful characters like Goku Black, Baby Vegeta, or Zamasu are rated on the same level as characters like Frieza (first form) or Cell (first form).
While they may be similar in gameplay values, if someone is not familiar with the new Dragon Ball series, they could be misled by this ranking. The classification of the GT characters could also lead to heated debates in the community.
Where does the difficulty lie with such rankings? Dragon Ball is a series that has already had several series and films. Ranking them is difficult if not all fighters have fought against each other before.
Additionally, the old films and GT are hard to categorize as they are not canon in the current series. Not to mention the differences between anime and manga, which are not always insignificant in Dragon Ball Super.
