Akira Toriyama is the creator of Dragon Ball and is currently working on a new series for the cult anime. In the first trailer for Dragon Ball DAIMA, fans can now see what adventure awaits Son-Goku and his friends.
What is Dragon Ball DAIMA about?
- The focus of the story is once again on Son-Goku, Vegeta, and their comrades.
- Someone makes a wish to Shenlong, and shortly thereafter, Son-Goku and his friends turn into smaller versions of themselves.
- Other people do not seem to be affected, as adult characters can be seen in the background.
- The series is set to premiere in fall 2024.
The trailer features numerous familiar characters like Bulma, Muten Roshi, and Krillin. Son-Goten, Trunks, and Marron have already been born at that time and are still in baby age.
In the reddit forum, user notathrowaway75 points out that there are more details from a livestream. According to this, the first episode will still show the Z fighters in adult age before they shrink down to child size.
As inspiration, the anime series Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen are mentioned. Both animes do not hold back on action-packed scenes, which is why we can expect the same from Dragon Ball DAIMA.

Dragon Ball DAIMA is intended for children
The series is said to feel like a JRPG, with Dragon Quest mentioned as an example. The focus is expected to be more on the physical contact between the fighters due to their childlike bodies rather than on flashy KI attacks.

In the reddit forum, many fans are disappointed that Son-Goten and Trunks are once again just small babies. They would have liked to see the two characters in their adult forms and had hoped that the new series would continue the story.
Additionally, some fans are upset about the slogan stating that the story has “never appeared before” in a Dragon Ball anime. Yet, the shrinking of Son-Goku reminds many of the series Dragon Ball GT.
In Dragon Ball GT, Son-Goku is also shrunk due to a wish and has to deal with his new (old) body.
