Dragon Ball Daima has now come to an end. Just recently, the last episode aired. With this, the anime is concluded after 20 episodes. The success could pave the way for a continuation, but what is the status of a second season?
Is there official information about a continuation? So far, it has not been officially confirmed that there will be a continuation. As anime producer Akio Iyoku revealed on MantanWeb, Dragon Ball Daima was created independently of other projects, even before the actual story was established. It was intended to differ from the rest of the series and appeal to both adults and children.
This could indicate that there is no continuation of the anime. Although the story can be placed in the timeline of the Dragon Ball franchise, it is a story detached from the rest, similar to Dragon Ball GT. Therefore, it is likely that the story is already complete and there are no plans for a continuation.
Furthermore, the creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama, contributed to most of the anime towards the end. Since the mangaka has now passed away, a continuation would create potential logical gaps.
However, there is a tiny glimmer of hope that the production team might decide on a continuation after all.

Why could there still be a second season? Currently, the production team of Dragon Ball Daima remains silent about a possible continuation. However, there are two things the team did not know before creating the anime that could allow for a second season:
- The ratings for Dragon Ball Daima are much higher than they were for Dragon Ball GT. The two anime are similar in premise and therefore comparable. On IMDb, the new anime currently has 8.0 / 10 ratings, while GT has only 6.8 / 10 ratings. Thus, Daima is only slightly behind Dragon Ball (8.5) and Dragon Ball Z (8.8). It is well received by the audience.
- There is a scene that runs after the credits. In this scene, Son-Goku, Panzy, and the others find a vessel with more demon eyes. King Gomah used one of the eyes to become a great threat. With multiple eyes, Son-Goku would have to plunge back into battle and grow beyond himself.
Since the story was not finished at the beginning of the anime, it is possible that the team decided during production to leave the option of a second season open with the post-credit scene. However, since there has been no official confirmation of a second season yet, you should not expect a continuation anytime soon.
What is next for Dragon Ball? Toyotarou is the official successor to Akira Toriyama and will continue the Dragon Ball Super manga. Currently, he is still on a break.
