The new great enemy of the Avengers is an iconic Marvel villain who could be an even bigger villain than Thanos in the upcoming movies. At least, if some of his terrible deeds are adapted. Even if they don’t quite fit with Disney.
Which villain is it about? It has been known for a while: Dr. Doom will be the new great villain of the Avengers and will even be portrayed by fan-favorite Robert Downey Jr. Comic and movie fans already know the villain from previous Fantastic Four films.
Dr. Doom has the potential to be even more dangerous and sinister than Thanos. He has already shown this in the comics, even though many of his actions do not align with family-friendly Disney. It can probably be summarized: He is a real scoundrel.
His greatest opponents are the Fantastic Four:
A villain and a big hater
What makes him so sinister? Victor von Doom first appeared in 1962 in the comic Fantastic Four No. 5
and has since not only been one of the greatest arch-enemies of the Fantastic Four, but has also repeatedly posed a great danger to the universe, behaving like quite a scoundrel. Some stories go so far that you can’t even imagine them in the MCU.
For example, he made a pact with the demon trio Haazareth Three. He gained mystical powers and a powerful armor. However, he sacrificed the soul of his greatest love, Valeria, for this. His armor then consisted of Valeria, granting him powerful abilities. In the course of this story, he also imprisoned Franklin Richards, the child of Mr. Fantastic and Sue Storm, in hell and had him tortured by demons.
He rules his country Latveria like a dictator, often leading wars as well. In the 2010 comic event Doomwar
, he waged war with Wakanda to seize the source of vibranium. This is on top of countless times he conquered the world.
When the inhabitants of Asgard were looking for a new home, Dr. Doom offered them Latveria. But he actually did this only to abduct some of them and conduct experiments on them. This story takes place in the comic Thor No. 606
from 2010.
In a confrontation with the villain Thanos in the comic Secret Wars No. 8 (2015), he easily defeated him with his god armor by ripping out his entire spine.
But these are just a few of the terrible deeds that Dr. Doom has committed throughout his history. The sinister thing about him is also that he has no greater motives. Often he acts purely out of greed for power or his hatred of the Fantastic Four. The worst part: he is still incredibly intelligent.
