The new figures from SuperData are here. Once again, they demonstrate which games generated the most revenue worldwide in August. At the top is once again League of Legends, while DOTA 2 is showing some weakness. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is now surpassing WoW.
SuperData shows each month which computer games bring the most revenue to developers worldwide. Now the figures for the month of August are available.
PC: League of Legends remains at the top, DotA 2 continues to decline
The month of August brings some changes to the rankings. League of Legends remains unfazed and holds steady at number 1. The dungeon beat ’em up Dungeon Fighter Online has swapped places with the MMORPG Fantasy Westward Journey 2 and the Chinese Counter-Strike Crossfire holds steady at rank 4.
The online shooter Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is now at number 5 (previously 6), while World of Warcraft has fallen to rank 6 (previously 5).
World of Tanks retains its position at number 7. Overwatch has climbed one position from rank 9. Returning is Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) at number 9 and DOTA 2 continues its decline to position 10.
PS4 and Xbox One: Battlefield 1 drops a little
This is happening on the consoles, especially on PS4 and Xbox One:
- Regarding console games, the ranks 1 and 2 have not changed. These remain the same as in July GTA 5 and FIFA 17.
- Position 3 is now held by Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Battlefield 1 drops one position to rank 4.
- A strong new entry, Madden NFL 18, takes position 5, while Overwatch has to settle for position 6.
- Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is at rank 7, just ahead of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands at position 8 and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege at rank 9.
- Position 10 is filled by the action-adventure Uncharted: Lost Legacy.
Mobile: Lineage M maintains a high position, Pokémon GO rises
In the area of mobile games, the top three positions have not changed compared to the previous month. These continue to be held by Honour of Kings (Arena of Valor in Europe), Fantasy Westward Journey and Lineage M. Clash of Clans rises again, moving up from position 6 to rank 4.
Also, Pokémon GO has become more popular again and has fought its way up to number 5. Clash Royale is found at position 7. Dragon Chronicles is at rank 8. Newcomer Fate/Grand Order positions itself at rank 10, just ahead of Candy Crush Saga at number 9.
