Superheroes are true giants in the cinema. For years, they have been among the most lucrative franchises on the big screen. But which hero has been the most successful at the box office? MeinMMO reveals it to you in a ranking.
How was this list created? We looked at the box office results of superhero movies and totaled them up to compare the overall results. For the ranking, we considered the figures from Box Office Mojo. Here’s our approach:
- We tally all the box office results of the character.
- We compare them with the overall result of the other movies.
- Since not all animated films are released in theaters, we only look at live-action movies.
- We rank the movies based on box office revenue without taking inflation into account. Keep in mind that films from 5 years ago earned more than films from 20 years ago, as cinema tickets have become more expensive over time.
- Additionally, we provide you with the Euro amount based on the exchange rate of March 31, 2026 (Source: finanzen.net).
Furthermore, we exclude major team
movies from this ranking, but mention 2 as Honorable Mentions. We only count the films in the franchise that have the specific name or a variation in the title.

Even though almost 8 billion US Dollars is an enormous number, there is a hero on this list who has earned more at the box office. Who exactly that is, you can find out on the next pages.
